ESN UK at the EU-UK Youth Dialogue

In line with its support for a UK-EU Youth Mobility scheme, ESN UK was invited to the ‘EU
Youth Dialogue’ event organised by the EU Delegation to the UK at the London School of
Economics on the 6th and 7th of November 2024.

Over the course of the two-day conference, discussions centred around the significant loss of
opportunities for young people in the UK as a result of the government’s decision to
withdraw from the Erasmus+ scheme. ESN UK's President, Jude Waites, had the opportunity
to speak with EU Ambassador Pedro Serrano about the Charity's work with international
students across the UK, and support for re-joining Erasmus+.

The benefits of greater UK-EU cooperation for UK youth mobility were highlighted, as well
as the broader problems facing young people today and the collective action needed to
address them.

Panel discussions saw a range of youth organisations, experts, academics, EU representatives
and civil society representatives discuss the role of the EU in UK youth mobility, and the
crucial role that UK-EU cooperation has in tackling pertinent global issues.

Joining other youth organisations and civil society groups from across the UK, ESN UK
pledges its support for broader youth mobility opportunities in collaboration with the EU, and
calls on the UK government to protect access to youth mobility opportunities in Europe.
